Dear Families,

We are excited to announce that Sacramento Area Home Schoolers will once again be participating in the Sutter's Fort ELP for the 2014-15 school year. We are among 59 separate school groups to be given this opportunity this year. The ELP is a 24 hour stay at the fort where we will be living and working 1846-style. We will be taking on the characters of actual immigrants, sailors, native American Indians and Mexicans who actually worked at and visited the fort over 160 years ago. This program is designed to compliment your 3rd - 6th grade children's study of California history and your entire family participates together in our program.

We have not yet been given our exact ELP date, but our program date will be on a Tuesday or a Thursday between November and mid June. We will be assigned our date on August 23.
If your family is interested in participating this school year, we have a mandatory informational meeting for you to attend on Monday, August 25 at 7:00 PM at Grace Bible Church, 5010 Hazel Avenue, Fair Oaks. Your children are welcome to come, but at least one parent is required to be present at this meeting. We give a very thorough account of what to expect so you can evaluate whether this is an activity that you and your family can fully commit to this school year. We will hand out the calendar of mandatory meeting dates and the application at this meeting along with a deadline to return the application. There is limited room in this program so all applications are given out at this meeting and not before. If you are interested in this program but at least one parent is absolutely unable to attend this mandatory meeting, please contact us.

Please pass this information on to all other Home Schooling families you know. If you live in a rural area or a location farther than 30 miles from Fair Oaks, CA, it is helpful to find 3-4 other homeschooling families in your area to participate in this program with your family. The families that live near you will help form your small group, so make sure to invite them to this mandatory informational meeting, too.

ELP ALUMNI:
1. If you have participated in an ELP with Sacramento Area Home Schoolers in the past, you do not need to attend the informational meeting listed above in order to participate again this year. If you would like to participate in our ELP this year, you must contact us by email
at cadiscoverytoys@hotmail.com and let us know of your interest so we can email you the necessary calendar and application on Aug 25 when all the other applications are given out.
2. We need helper families to make this program a success. So if your family has participated with us before and your children are too old to be included in a "small group", we would LOVE to have some or all of your family join in our program as a helper family!!! The large group meetings are optional when you are a helper family. Email us before 8/25 to request your calendar and application.
3. If you have participated in a past ELP with our program and now have a younger child who is 3rd- 6th grade, your family can skip the informational meeting (although a refresher of all the information may be helpful) but you will still need to attend all other small & large group meetings. Be sure to request your application and calendar by email before 8/25 at cadiscoverytoys@hotmail.com.
Wagons Ho!!
With Warm Regards, Marshall and Carol Ann Young (cadiscoverytoys@hotmail.com) & Jon and Leanne Kramp
