Musical History Drama

“Sing it – You’ll never forget it.”

It is remarkable how we remember songs, advertisement jingles and catchy tunes our whole lives.  The elderly suffering from severe dementia… who have forgotten their own names can remember all the words to songs and hymns from their childhoods. This is because musical learning resides in a different and very resilient part of our minds. That is why it is an ideal place to teach from.

In musical history drama we will study history through the mode of music.
In addition to learning music, acting and movement is added to create an actual “musical” in the fullest Broadway sense of the term. Singing, movement and drama creates a learning environment that incorporates the auditory, kinesthetic and visual learning styles to provide a broad spectrum of complete learning. The music is high quality that will be both emotionally and academically satisfying to learn and hear.  Students will cooperate together to create a truly wonderful program and learn history at the same time.

If you are interested in learning more please email me at mhartung@pcyo.org or call (916) 624-7610
