Valley Home Educator Convention-Modesto / July 24-25

One of my favorite things about this Modesto conference is the used book/material booth downstairs.  VOLUNTEERS sort through a huge amount of donated curriculum, reading material, posters/charts, music, reference books, educational toys, puzzles, movies, etc., etc., etc.  Material donations are accepted at the booth. All purchases are by donation, and directly benefit Family Protection Ministries. "FPM is the only full-time organization working in the state capitol monitoring all legislative and administrative actions and advocating on behalf of private home educators and parents. It is totally dependent on home educators' regular financial support for 100% of salary and expense needs. In order to continue to serve you by defending the educational and parental freedoms of home educators, FPM needs your support." The efforts of FPM benefit ALL homeschoolers.   - Michelle

EXPLORE! Music Camp

Hi,
I am putting together another introductory music camp (like the one I had last year), so I'm passing along the information in case you know of anyone who would be interested. Thanks!
Also, I've been thinking of doing a "mini-camp" for toddlers and/or preschoolers who would like to explore music. So if you have a child or know someone in this age group, please let me know! :)

-Allison

Musical Madness Camp
Have a child you want to keep out of "treble" this summer? Tune into this camp and your child will learn "key" music concepts while having a blast at the same time! This summer, make marvelous music memories that will last a lifetime!!

When: August 3-79:00am - 11:00 am each day
Where: A piano studio in East Sac (5133 Moddison Ave.)
Who: For children ages seven to ten who have not taken formal music lessons
Cost: $150

What: An intro to playing and enjoying music with engaging activities, games, movement/dance, and crafts. Topics include: rhythm, piano exploration, improvisation, and basic theory.

My experience: I have played classical piano and violin for over thirteen years, and have participated in several choirs. Three years ago, I began teaching piano in East Sac.  I have had experience helping with music camps, and I have taken performance, pedagogy, and improvisation classes at CSUS and Sac City College. I enjoy volunteering with music by playing for events, church services, and senior retirement centers. My current goal is to finish my Bachelor's in piano performance and teach in private and group settings. I love sharing the joy of music with children!!
