BROOKDALE URGENT NEED!

UPDATE!

I just spoke with Brookdale  - the situation is urgent.  Some elderly arrived from the fire areas with nothing – not even their shoes!

Here is an update on what you can help with:

Deliver items to either Brookdale Assisted Living facility
780 Harrington Way, Folsom, CA 95630
            or
6125 Hazel Ave, Orangevale, CA 95662

Items needed: (keep in mind patients are elderly)
  • Shirts (men and women)
  • Undergarments
  • Personal hygiene items (toothbrushes, combs, etc.)
  • Socks, men & women
  • Incontinence supplies (Depends, etc.)
  • Sweaters (cardigans) or jackets

Thank you so much for considering this request.
Heily

Help elderly fire victims evacuated to this area. URGENT NEED!

URGENT NEED FOR SUPPLIES FOR ELDERLY PEOPLE EVACATED FROM THE FIRE AREAS.  I CALLED AND CONFIRMED THIS NEED – SEE THE LIST BELOW ABOUT HOW YOU CAN HELP.  GOD BLESS YOU!  Heily

Here is a way to help locally with people who have been evacuated from the Northern California fire areas…
Santa Rosa has virtually been wiped out, losing 2 hospitals and several care facitlites in addition to many other facilities and private homes.  Over 175,000 have been evacuated with nothing but the clothes on their backs.  About 150 Santa Rosa Assisted living residents were transported during the night from the fire zone, so they came in their pjs. :(

There is an urgent need right now! Brookdale Assisted Living at 6125 Hazel (and Greenback) just brought in about 50 residents from their Santa Rosa facility. From my understanding, their facility burned down. The residents only came with the clothes on their back. They are devastated. They are in need of ALL basic needs.  The Folsom Location has similar needs, taking in 27 residents. 780 Harrington Drive right behind Burger rehab on E Bidwell.
Here is a list of items needed:

Deliver items to either Brookdale Assisted Living facility
780 Harrington Way, Folsom, CA 95630
              or
6125 Hazel Ave, Orangevale, CA 95662

Items needed: (keep in mind patients are elderly)
  • Shirts (men and women)
  • Undergarments
  • Personal hygiene items (toothbrushes, wipes, toothpaste, combs, etc.)
  • Socks, men & women
  • Incontinence supplies (Depends, etc.)
  • Sweaters (cardigans) or jackets

Please spread the word.
Gratefully,

EMH Sports PE Classes

Hello Parents and Guardians,
Our PE classes are starting, so if you haven’t signed up yet, it’s not too late. Your child can join in at anytime during the sport month.  You still have plenty of time to make payment or get your POs/Vouchers to us before the classes commence. Many of our previous “wish-list” locations are active, if yours is not, please don’t forget to sign up as we are checking the enrollment numbers daily and you will be notified via email when it happens. EMH will help your student develop their individual skills. The first 30 minutes of each class session is spent on skill building and the second 30 minutes the students are playing the game reinforcing those skills. Each week, a new skill set is introduced. Many of our students have gone on to club sports just from taking EMH PE classes!
Why is playing soccer so good for kids?  It:
  1. Develops social skills.
  2. Helps fight obesity.
  3. Stimulates cardiovascular fitness.
  4. Develops agility better than any other sport.
  5. Develops muscle strength.
  6. Soccer truly is a sport that teaches children the value of teamwork.
  7. Soccer has a positive influence on a child’s self esteem.
  8. But most of all, it’s just fun to play!
Please check the dates for all of your classes online on your class page or our PE Dates page under the orange Locations button. Our full year's calendar is listed with all dates for your sports, along with holidays. We do hold class on some holidays so please take careful note. If class is held we will charge for that day. Also, if your park has a special schedule or notice regarding just that class location it will be on your class page. Click on the blue title anywhere that you see it and you will be taken to your class page.

We offer instruction for students ages 3-18 at $28 per sport month (4, 1 hour classes per session). Please keep in mind that the coaches will not be able to assist you with registration at the park. Please check your account status page before showing up to make sure your child is cleared to participate.

Enjoy your day!

Summer Camp Rewind

We had a great time in our Sombrero Time Summer Sessions! Not only did K-2nd grade students get a fun introduction to Spanish, but 7th & 8th grade students received a fundamental preview to their first year of Spanish in high school as well. Way to keep the learning going, chicos!

An integral part of our continued education through the Junior High program is offering volunteer opportunities. Click HERE to find our FaceBook page and watch a short clip on how two students (in their 6th year in our program) are now passing on their Spanish to a new generation of students.

Friday Art Class, Roseville

FRIDAY ART CLASS REGISTRATION UNDERWAY
I coordinate Friday art classes at the Kids Studio of Fine Arts in Roseville. Our family has attended art lessons at this studio for over 9 years and our kids love it! Lessons are taught in a Classical style, teaching kids the "grammar" of art by examining an object's lines, making it easy for them to draw realistically from day one.

I’m thrilled to announce classes are open for additional enrollment now. Please respond directly to me to enroll your students (karenjyuen@icloud.com / 916.223.8908 text).

Miss Shannon is going to teach two Friday's out of each month this year Oct 2017-May 2018. I have included the dates, times and pricing for both below.

12+ Class
She will be offering more advanced projects and the introduction of different mediums for our older group this year (12+).
It is require for 12+up students to pre-register and pay for 2 classes at a time (the 12+up class students to attend both classes in that month). So the younger group can attend per class, but the older group needs to commit to both classes that are offered in that particular month. This extra time will allow each artist more time to complete the projects offered.

6-11 Class
All of our 6-11 classes will be held on a first come first serve basis.
Families need to register no later than 1 week prior to class and all payments need to be made prior to class or on the day of class.
Miss Shannon will require that we have a min of 6 students attending each 6-11 class to run.

Class Size
This year Miss Shannon is placing a very firm limit onto the number of students allowed per class to enhance our student’s art experience, so register soon.
16 max for ages 6-11
12 max for ages 12+up
Minimum of 6 students each week per class

Class Duration and Payment
Classes will be 1.5 hours
$20 per artist
All payments, cash or voucher, must be received by Miss Shannon prior to class. You can mail, email, or set up a time to pay by phone with a credit card.

Ages and Class Times
Ages 6-11 9:30am-11am
Ages 12+up 11am-12:30pm

Class Dates
Oct 20/27
Nov 3/10
Dec 1/8

Miss Shannon is very much looking forward to working with such an amazing group of kiddos again this year!
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Course Description
If your child loves to paint, draw and create, then this is the class for them! In this class, your little artists are taught the basics of shape and color recognition. They will also learn the basics of color mixing and application by using many different art mediums such as marker, water color, color pencil, chalk pastel and oil pastels. Our instructors will provide and teach age appropriate, non-competitive guided lessons that are mostly nature based and definitely fun for all! In this class, our very talented instructors teach the basics of the Fine Arts at a more advanced level suited for ages 6 through 9. A guided lesson plan aids the artists while encouraging them to become more independent and focused while working on their projects. We will keep our attention on the importance of the contoured line family, but will expand our knowledge of tone value, light, texture and proportion. Our artists will be introduced to the Tube family and its purpose in creating the structure of body form. The students will begin to learn the process of shading images 3-dimensionally with both graphite use and colored mediums. We encourage your child to use his or her imagination, creativity and originality in all their projects...so come prepared to have lots of artistic fun!

Thank you,
Karen Yuen
