Header

JUNE 9TH -11TH, 2016

---

Come join us and be filled with God's blessings!

This year, our theme is "Family Discipleship" and we pray the conference will be a blessing to all families both homeschooled and non-homeschooled alike. We hope you will gain insight from our keynote speakers, Hal and Melanie Young, feature speaker, Mike Smith and other speakers that you will find encouraging. Glean tips on raising children, learn new technique for approaching academic subjects, fellowship with friends, enjoy shopping in the exhibit hall, and much more!

This year's conference is an event that you won't want to miss!!

Feel free to share this email, so others can be blessed by this event too.

We pray you will join us!

MEET OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Hal & Melanie Young

Authors and speakers that start with Biblical foundations, then share how to put principles into practice. The parents of six sons (in a row!) and two daughters proved two things to them- you need God’s wisdom to raise a family, and you need help to make it practical!  If you’d like to find out a little more about the Young's, you can read their blog at RaisingRealMen.com, listen podcast Making Biblical Family Life Practical, or follow them on Facebook.

Mike Smith

Mike came to HSLDA full-time in 1987 and has served as president of the organization since the year 2001. In addition to serving as president, he also is a contact lawyer for California, Nevada and Puerto Rico. All of Mike’s children are now grown, and three of the four were homeschooled. The most enjoyable part of Mike’s job is when he is able to go to homeschool conferences and meet what he calls America’s greatest heroes, homeschooling moms.

Volunteer Opportunity for Political Campaigns

Dear Homeschool Families,
As many of you know, I was active for a number of years in the political arena, leading homeschoolers in volunteering on campaigns and holding educational “mock conventions”, etc. It has been my passion to help young people understand why it is important to get involved in the political arena – they are our future and they can impact that future with their involvement!

I have been asked if there are similar opportunities this political season.  Although I am not directly connected right now, I do know of a few opportunities for homeschool families to help with campaigns for local conservative, Christian candidates.  If you are interested in giving your kids experience in volunteering for a well-organized campaign, please let me know and I will connect you to the right people.  There is an immediate need for volunteers as the election is right around the corner!

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions.  916-782-4411

My name is Allie Suydam.  I am a fellow Baysider, a mom to three school age children, and a teacher.  I have been working with home school families in the area for the past couple of years.  I firmly believe in parental rights and choices, especially in the area of education.  We have so many great options in our area from neighborhood schools to charter schools to home schooling.  Parents must choose the schooling option that is best suited for the unique needs of their family.

I'm excited to announce that there is a new option for home school families in our area.  Inspire Charter Schools opened 3 years ago in Southern, Californian and has grown tremendously!  Due to high demand, they have recently expanded their charter to include several counties in Northern California.  I am blessed to be partnering with Inspire as a teacher, to support and empower local home school families in our community.
Inspire offers the maximum in Parent Choice and Personalized Learning for homeschoolers. We also offer the highest amount of instructional funding ($2,600 for TK-8th and $2,800 for 9th-12) and a very easy vendor approval process.
Our curricula options are designed for flexibility and choice and can meet the needs of all students. Enrichment activities and classes include art, music, clubs, fieldtrips, gatherings, and in-person parent/student workshops.  We have hundreds of approved vendors locally and beyond to support the needs and interests of our students.
WE BELIEVE:
A student is the most important person in any school.
A family has the right to choose and shape their student’s school program.
A strong home and school partnership will help our students achieve in a safe and positive learning environment.

I would appreciate it if you would share this email with other families in the Bayside Homeschool Network.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me for more information.

Sincerely,
Allie Suydam
