Dear Friends,
I heard about this opportunity at the recent Sacramento County High School Mock Trial competition in downtown Sacramento. The PR person for the Sacramento Judicial Learning Center (JLC) was actively recruiting parents to attend from our homeschool Mock Trial team.
We were so surprised by her recruitment efforts that we actually said, "We are homeschool parents, not school teachers. Are you sure that we could attend?" Her reply was, "Sure, why not? Your families are obviously engaged with learning & teaching the judicial process. We'd love to have you."
It's a great opportunity for a homeschooling parent who teaches a high school class on US gov or Civics or Mock Trial. It's a week long class in downtown Sacramento from June 20-24th for educators, that actually pays you a stipend of $500 once you successfully develop a curricular unit based around local court cases. The curriculum is for classroom use and entry into the JLC curriculum library at the Federal Courthouse, 501 I St., Sacramento.
Feel free to pass this along to other parents who are homeschooling teens & might be interested. Since I love developing curriculum, I'd be very tempted to apply, if my youngest son wasn't graduating in May.
