Citizen Lobby Day/CRI

Hello all!

I wanted to let you know of CRI's annual Citizen Lobby Day event. We will host this on March 18th. This event is for new and experienced citizen lobbyists. That just means a citizen who voices his or her opinion on legislation. Whether you've been involved before, or not, we need you! We must all take a stand in order to make a difference.
This is also a great event for students (typically High school, but some Jr. Highers have participated as well). At this event there will be speakers who will equip you with tools and techniques for getting involved and voicing your opinion effectively. We will then go over to the Capitol to gain hands on practice (in groups) in lobbying.

This event is always educational, encouraging, and refreshing! Come meet like-minded people who want to be involved in making change too!

Here is a link with the details for the event:

Please email me with any questions you may have.

Thank you,

Spring 2014 Class Descriptions

Our Gang, Ages 4-7 (4:30-6pm)
This introductory class combines the three elements of musical theater: singing, dancing and acting. Explore storytelling choreography, singing, and character development while performing in a safe, encouraging environment. Class will include warm-ups, group activities, dance routines, theater games, and the showcase performance.  Children develop confidence as they get their first glimpse into the joy of the stage!

Voice for Kids,  Ages 8-12 (4:15-6:15)
Singing is fun!  Learn how to use your voice correctly and learn various techniques that will help you be a better vocalist and a better performer. Students will learn to sing together in a group as well as do some solo work. It’s fun, it’s interactive and you get to sing with your friends! The class will focus on correct posture, breathing techniques, phrasing, ear training, how to stay on pitch and how to communicate story through song.

Dance Combo, Ages 8-18 (4:15-6:15)
Learn the basic techniques of one of the most exciting elements of theater: DANCE! Jazz, Tap and Ballet are exciting styles of dance which are used in Musical Theater, all requiring discipline and practice. This class will cover forms of movement and balance while learning to tell stories expressively through creative choreography.

Character Study for Kids (Drama) Ages 8-12 (4:15-6:15)
How do you leave your fears behind, put yourself out there, and become the heart and soul of the character you want to portray? This class is designed to provide the students the skills to develop a character. It will develop each students acting techniques in expressing comedy, drama, farce and emotion.

Backstage and Beyond, Ages 10-18 (4:15-6:15)
Bring the stage to life with your creativity! Design and build props for the upcoming CYT show, learn how to hang a drop, and study the fundamentals of lighting and sound. Help create a magical world for the stage! This class will include guest speakers and LOTS of hands on learning activities. Backstage and Beyond students (aka “The CYT Ninjas”) will receive priority placement on the Spring Show Crew, as their set designs and props grace the CYT main stage production.

Teen Voice, Duets and Harmonies,  Ages 12-18 (4:15-6:15)
Come learn to harmonize together! There is nothing quite as cool as singing in a duet, trio or quartet and striking that perfect chord. Whether it’s the Four Seasons, The Beatles, The Supremes, a barbershop quartet or a female trio, harmonizing makes your ears tingle!  This class explores the techniques of harmonizing with other vocalists. Learn blending, listening skills, how to hold your part, and create basic chords within a duet, a trio or a quartet!

Acting Approaches for Teens, Ages 12-18 (4:15-6:15)
Stanislavsky. Hagen. Meisner. Shurtleff. Learn various acting methods, the time in which they were introduced, and the tools they provide for actors. Homeschool Junior Golf Classes

FRANKLYN RICHARDS
British PGA Professional
Catta Verdera C.C.

Dear Home-School Parents,

I have been privileged to teach home-schooled children the venerable and noble game of golf for many years.

Please visit my web-site at - Home School Junior Classes to learn about the program which begins in mid-March at Catta Verdera C.C., Lincoln.
Once they have completed my course and qualified for the NCGA "Youth on Course" program, I have long thought that their further development as golfers and citizens would be greatly enhanced with the guidance of a mentor.
So I was delighted recently, to receive a favorable response from President Jackson of William Jessup University, when I requested that his golf-team members fulfill their community outreach requirements by pairing as mentors with our young golfers.

Details of this part of the Junior Golf Mentor Program can be found on the same pages.

Please don't hesitate to phone or e-mail me with any questions, or to reserve a spot for your young golfer in one of my classes.

Kindest Regards,

Franklyn Richards

Sac, May 1-4,Banjo Rama,$20/one day

(From SAFTI)

Please mark your calendars now for May 1-4, 2014

http://www.sacramentobanjoband.com/banjo-rama/2014/index.php

Each year the Sacramento Banjo Band sponsors an annual banjo music festival known as Banjo-Rama.World class banjo stars are featured as soloists and in ensembles. Eddie Peabody, probably the most famous banjo player ever, performed at the very first Banjo-Rama. In addition to banjo virtuosos, there are several exciting west coast banjo bands. It's quite a musical spectacle that could just as well have been named the banjo Olympics. These musicians are not just plucking chords like grandpa used to do on the back porch! They are genuine pros! Their fingers and hands are sizzling hot, moving faster than the eye can follow, playing everything from classical to popular music. You'll be surprised and delighted at their imaginative arrangements, versatility, and precise execution. Primarily 4-string banjos are played at Banjo-Rama. Banjo-Rama proceeds are a benefit for charities like the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
This year's Banjo-Rama will host Navihanke, a young, vibrant, talented and entertaining group from Ljubljana, Slovenia. They showcase the very best and brightest of Slovenia’s modern culture today! They will be performing at Banjo-Rama as part of the Navihanke USA 2014 Tour, a goodwill cooperation venture between volunteers in the USA and the Republic of Slovenia. Their mission of performing in the USA is to promote awareness and appreciation of Slovenian music and culture and to strengthen friendship ties between the two nations.
Be sure to attend this year's Banjo-Rama, and be a part of history in the making.

Kids Speaking Out Program

Our Kids Speaking Out Program brings children that have speech disabilities and or just plain shy... and exposes them to small speaking situations by handing out programs, being ushers... The idea of this is to expose kids to small speaking situations outside of the norm... and hopefully increase their confidence levels and social skills.

The program is free to children and to one parent that is going to assist their child if needed. We have adult chaperones that will be assisting children too, so if mom or dad would like to sit and watch the play they can do that too.

Currently Tree House productions at the Roseville Theatre Arts Academy run for about 4 weeks and we generally will take on one show on a Saturday (time depending). So our program might run once about every
4-6 weeks.

Feel free to call me or email me back if you have questions.

Best regards,

Mike Molino

Kids Speaking Out was formed by Granite Bay Speech in collaboration with RTAA to provide opportunities for children ages 8-18 to practice communication skills in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
