Worldview Academy is hosted at William Jessup University on June 30 - July 5, 2019.

The overnight camp lasts six days, Sunday afternoon through Friday morning. 

The students are grouped into small groups based on age and those people become their best friends. 

There are lectures about leadership, the real world, evolution, evangelism, and apologetics. There are a lot of fun topics too. Different speakers cycle through the campuses that host Worldview Academy (WVA), which means every year you hear different speakers.  Every meal is buffet style, eat all you want, at  the delicious William Jessup café.

We have sent our kids to their summer camps yearly and our girls have served as staff/interns. My husband and I are deeply grateful for their ministry to teens and their impact for the glory of God not just in the lives of our kids, but thousands upon thousands of teens nationwide. Their Christ-exalting faculty and staff have consistently modeled what it means to be a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ and how to live that out in the every day. They have taught our kids how to answer their own hard questions about their faith and equally importantly how to extend the truth of the gospel of Christ in genuine love to others.  We are so excited to get to share this ministry with you at the upcoming conference:

Cello

Chandler Welty has been playing the cello since he was 5 years old. He has been a member of the Sacramento Youth Symphony since 2013 and currently sits first stand of the Premier Orchestra.  In 2014 he was the recipient of the Junior Merritt Scholarship of Music.  This past summer he toured in Europe with the Sacramento Youth Symphony. Besides cello Chandler loves anything do with car engineering and design, and he loves to read.  Chandler is looking forward to sharing his love of the cello with others. 

Violin

Kayelynn Welty started playing the violin at age 4. She joined the Sacramento Youth Symphony in 2013 and has advanced to the level of first violinist in the Premier Orchestra. In 2014 she was awarded the Junior Merritt Scholarship of Music. The past summer she toured Europe with the Sacramento Youth Symphony. Kayelynn loves teaching children and has helped coach her younger brother and sister in their violin practice. In addition to violin she enjoys drama, reading, and traveling. Kayelynn is looking forward to sharing her love and joy of the violin with others.

They have 6 children: a single, a double, and a triple. Yep, that’s right—triplets and twins. They have been home educating since 1999 and a part of Classical Conversations since 2010. Marc serves as the Leader Curriculum Developer for Classical Conversations Multimedia. He also directs a High School Challenge I program in middle Tennessee. Marc enjoys his morning rituals of drinking coffee, reading books, and peeking in on the kids while they sleep. His favorite coffee is Costa Rican; his favorite author is C. S. Lewis; and his favorite kids are currently six in number. His lifetime aspirations are subsumed under one prayer: “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.” A secondary goal is to be his great-grandchildren’s Challenge director. He is confident that the primary goal will come to pass. He hopes he is blessed with the secondary one as well."

Girl Scout Troop BSA 107 Informational Meeting 2/26

BSA Troop 107, a Christian Homeschool unit,  is holding an informational meeting regarding interest in our community to start up an ALL GIRL SCOUT TROOP on 

Tues, Feb 26th, 7:15pm, at First Baptist Church of Fair Oaks.  

If you have a daughter that is 11-17 years old that might be interested in joining scouting, please bring yourself and your daughter to the meeting.  

Troop 107 has been a very successful boys Troop in the Sacramento homeschool community since 1991 with 99 scouts earning their Eagle rank.  Pack 107 started up in 2000 to bring in our younger sons into the fold.  Our primary mission in implementing the BSA program is to build positive moral character and good citizenship in our sons and daughters in an outdoor setting, as well as fellowship between families with similar vision for upholding God’s holy scriptural standards for living.  We have families from all over the Sacramento region (from Antelope, North Highlands, Rio Linda, Citrus Heights, Orangevale, Fair Oaks, Folsom, Rocklin, Roseville, Auburn, Loomis, Granite Bay, Rancho Cordova, Gold River, even Cameron Park).  We meet weekly at First Baptist Church of Fair Oaks.

Apologetics Club: Doubt & Certainty 2/15 Bridgeway Church

Bridgeway Christian Church Homeschool Support Group invites your teen to join us! (You do not need to be a member of our homeschool support group.)

We learned so much last year in our Apologetics Club! We are continuing to offer a once per month event that will help your student hear answers to questions they may be thinking about. My goal for my own kids is that they develop a Biblical worldview. I pray that their faith is challenged and they have opportunities to ask questions while they are still under my roof.

Each event will be on a Friday afternoon, but we do not have a set Friday each month as it’s dependent upon speaker availability. 

DATE: Friday, February 15th

TIME: 2:00-4:00pm 

Bridgeway Christian Church: Upstairs in Classroom 1

TOPIC:  Is it okay to have doubts about Christianity? What is the role of doubts in faith? How do I know this is all true? How much trust do we put in human intelligence and how much place do we leave for mystery? Is faith at odds with reason?   

Is your teen asking any of the above questions? Do they feel shame when they have doubts? Do they have a safe place to ask questions? This is the place to tackle some of these questions!

Speaker: Pastor Matt Bach

Matt Bach is the Director of Christian Development at Bridgeway. He was the Pastor of High School Ministries at Bridgeway from 2011-2017 and has a passion for connecting with youth. He holds an M.A. in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a B.A. in Theology (Old Testament emphasis) from Briercrest Bible College. Matt is also an adjunct faculty member at William Jessup University. In his free time Matt loves reading, spending time at home with his family, and leading tours of Israel with GTI Tours.

COST: $5/student (parents are free)

WHO CAN ATTEND: ONLY students 6th grade and up. Parents are also encouraged to stay if you do not have younger students. If you do have younger siblings, feel free to drop your older students off. Do to the sensitive nature of some topics that will be discussed at this event or future Apologetics events, we are requesting that only 6th grade and older students attend.
