Sac PEN Speaker Event- Executive Function October 11th

Here's some information on an upcoming event that the Sacramento PEN group which I am a member of is putting on for the community. Parents Education Network (PEN)is a coalition of parents collaborating with educators, students and the community to empower and bring academic and life success to students with learning and attention differences. Parents, teachers, and teen students are encouraged to attend this local event.

This is also an opportunity to find out about our local SAFE (Student Advisors for Education) group which is a student community that strives to educate, mentor, and support students, parents and teachers regarding the challenges and strengths of students with language based learning and attention differences.

"An Introduction to Executive Skill Functioning-Planning, Time Management, Memory, Organization"

Does your child . . .
  • Have a difficult time getting organized, planning
his or her time, and then managing time?
  • Complete assignments and homework only to fail to turn them in?
  • Act before thinking?

This talk will give you a glimpse into the executive functions of the brain and how these functions impact education.  Emotional control, response inhibition, and working memory are executive functions that will be addressed.  We will share stories, learn about multiple executive functions of the brain and look at possible solutions to executive skill deficits.
