Discovery Science Course Details

Introduction to Programming using the LEGO NXT 2.1 Platform
To be taught on 3 consecutive Wednesdays from 1:30pm-3:00pm starting date TBD
Location: Discovery Museum Science & Space Center 3615 Auburn Blvd Sacramento CA 95821
Minimum Age: 10 years old
Cost:  $100 per person for all 3 sessions. 
Class size: Minimum of 10 and maximum of 20 participants.

Class Description:  Experiment with programming a robot to overcome a multitude of challenges. Students will learn the basic elements of robotics programming using a LEGO Mindstorms Robot and LEGO NXT 2.1 software. The robot’s core will be pre-assembled, leaving the focus on programming the robot itself. Using various robotics programming concepts, students will tackle obstacle courses and other physical challenges in multiple ways.

About the instructor:
Kevin Costa  graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. His degree required conceptual programming courses and he has also taken two introductory programming courses in the C programming language. While at the museum, he has successfully taught several Mindstorms classes with an emphasis on basic robotics programming.
