Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack

Dear Homeschool Network Families,

A personal note from me (Heily)……..

For the past seven years, I have been the volunteer coordinator for the Feed My Starving Children mobile pack that comes to Rocklin in October.  Each year, hundreds of homeschoolers have turned out to help pack meals, almost three million of them now! Thousands of children’s lives have been saved! J  It has become a tradition for many homeschool families so I am again letting you know about this opportunity, should you want to join us. This year we are packing 500,000 meals!  We need 3,000 volunteers to help us assemble those meals!  Please consider joining us for a two-hour shift.  Six shifts are available during the October 20-22 event that is held at William Jessup University in Rocklin.

Registration goes live this Friday, September 30th at 8:00 a.m.  You can sign up your family any time after that, if you are not already a part of another group that is. Spots have historically filled up quickly (thanks, in part, to amazing homeschoolers!) Just a few things to keep in mind:

Ø  Please no children younger than 6, for safety purposes. There is also an adult-to-child ratio that needs to be followed.  This ratio can be found at the website under “Questions and Answers” as well as other frequently asked questions.  Please take a minute to review this information.

Ø  The names of everyone attending will need to be entered into the system.

Ø  An e-mail will come out about a week before the event with information about what time to arrive, where to park, what to wear (and what not to wear), etc.  Please be sure to share that information with the people in your group. (if you sign up more than just yourself)

Ø  The local FMSC committee has to pay for all the meals that are packed at our mobile pack.  The average person packs about $48 worth of food in a two hour shift.  For example, if you bring six people to the mobile pack, you will pack app. $288 worth of food.  Any donations to help pay for the food would be greatly appreciated, although donating is not required to pack meals.  There is more information about donating on the website.

Mobile packs are fun and high energy!! Serving in this way will send a meaningful and powerful message to your children.  If you would like to see how a mobile pack works, here is a video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ech5XOryipM&feature=youtu.be
