Friends of Auburn Library: Book Sale and NOON Speaker Series this week

From Michelle Potter: You are welcome to bring your sack lunch. While this is generally attended by adults (because everyone else is at work or in school), my elementary children and I have attended a couple of the NOON programs. They not only welcome, but enjoy having homeschooled children attend. However, I would not recommend it for lower elementary or younger. This is also a great opportunity for your student to practice taking notes (or not Emoji ). - Michelle

NOON Speaker Series this week
This Friday will be all about "The Historic Lincoln Highway”. Robert Chase, a Bay Area-based member of the Lincoln Highway Association, will talk about the first transcontinental highway. Mr. Chase rode the entire length on a motorcycle a few years ago. The highway stretches from New Jersey to California passing through Placer County along the same route as modern Highway 80. As it passed over Donner Summit it covered the Emigrant Trail that brought settlers and seekers into California.
The doors of the Beecher Room open at 11:30, coffee and light refreshments are available before the program starts.

Book Sale this Wed and Sat
2014 got off to a pretty good start in spite of only one sale in January due to New Year’s Day. January yielded $752.15, which is a good result for a Saturday. The February sales brought the tidy sum of $1,631.31.
Restocking is an on-going process. So…donations of books, magazines, audio-visual materials and white elephant wares are always needed and most welcomed. Many thanks from all of us for anything you can do.

Friends are also Chefs!
Moving towards Spring, Friends will be participating in the annual Celebrity Chef dinner on March 6. This event brings local non-profit organizations together to raise funds for the Celebrity Chefs’ local projects funded by the Auburn 49’er Lions Club. The Friends will be serving tasty meatballs as their part of the dinner.
