I. HOMESCHOOL DAYSThese interactive drop-in programs are appropriate for children ages four and older and are presented for small groups and individual families. Fees are $2 per student in advance (by 5 PM the day prior to the program) and $4 per student at the door. One chaperone for every five students is required and free. Additional chaperones are $6 per person.Silhouettes and ShadowsTuesday, October 8, 12-2 PM (drop-in)Come in costume, listen to spooky stories in the galleries, and then search the shadows in artworks for mysterious shapes and eerie images.Branch Out with ArtTuesday, December 10, 12-2 PM (drop-in)From majestic native oaks to electric blue art trees, Sacramento is known as the City of Trees. Discover a whole forest of leafy artworks in the galleries, and meet a naturalist who will guide you through a hands-on project exploring the art and science of trees.Land and SkyTuesday, February 11, 12-2 PM (drop-in)From fiery skies to rosy oceans, examine how artists use imagined colors and create your own colorful watercolor landscape in the studios.
Instructor: Lori WardFantasy Festival XXVIIITuesday, April 8, 12-2 PM (performance begins at 1 PM)B Street Theatre takes the stage at the Crocker for a performance of the winning plays of their annual playwriting contest for children. Enjoy what happens when a professional theatre’s staff is at the service of young writers’ talents. Advance registration is required by 5 PM the day before the program. Performance is 45 minutes in length.II. TOUR + PERFORMANCEAppropriate for students in kindergarten and older, Tour + Performances are $8 per person, and advance registration is required. Students investigate connections between art, music, and dance through exploring artworks in the galleries and enjoying performances in the auditorium.Tour + Performance: African Art, Drumming, and DancingTuesday, November 12, 11 AM & 12 PMDiscover how art and traditional life in Africa are united as you explore the Crocker’s collection of African art and hear the sounds and rhythms of diverse African societies through a live drumming and dancing performance. Advance registration is required by 5 PM on November 11.Tour + Performance: Movement in Art and Dance (featuring the Sacramento Ballet!)Tuesday, March 11, 11 AM & 12 PMLike the work of Sam Francis, dancers from the Sacramento Ballet will utilize movement, their spatial environment, and imagery to express an idea or provoke emotion. Advance registration is required by 5 PM on March 10.III.
