Come and participate with your student in Dialogue on America, sponsored by the Justice Kennedy Library and Learning Center. This program in its 15th year for Sacramento area high school students and we are pleased to announce its FIRST year for home schoolers!
Operation Protect and Defend (OPD), creators of this local program brings judges & lawyers into local high school civics & government classes to facilitate a discussion about the U.S. Constitution & the responsibility to participate in our democratic society. This year's curriculum focuses on the 75th anniversary of Executive Order 9066, which allowed for wide-spread detainment of Japanese Americans during World War II, the cases that followed, and the parallels between rhetoric heard today and that from 70 years ago. OPD provides written materials to prepare teachers and students for the 1-hour classroom dialogue, held at the federal courthouse for home school students.
