Rendezvous with Comet Halley Program 4/17

Our Tri-Valley (East Bay) homeschool group is hosting an event in the Sacramento region and looking for additional students to participate.  If you are interested in joining us, please respond directly to Stacy.
Thanks,
De De Curry (former Sacramento resident/long time homeschooler)

During this 2.5 hour program students in 5th grade and above will be assigned roles as crew members and apply Math and Science to solve real-life challenges to complete a mission.  We'll be doing the Rendezvous With Comet Halley Program.  Here is the scenario: "In 2061, Comet Halley is returning to our part of the solar system. A team of astronauts constructs a probe, plots an intercept course, and navigates the spacecraft in search of the comet. The objective is to launch the probe through the tail and collect data for research."   http://sacramentoclc.com/

Where:  Discovery Museum Science and Space Center, 3615 Auburn BLVD. Sacramento   http://www.thediscovery.org/

RSVP:  Please RSVP to Stacy at Stacylfk@gmail.com or reply to sender by March 10th with your child's name and grade.

Cost: The cost per student will depend on the number of students attending and will range from a high of $32 to a low of $17.  Payment is due March 20th

Chaperone spaces are limited.  If you’re interested in being a chaperone, please let me know. If you’re willing to, but equally happy not to be one, please let me know that as well.

This program is for grades 5 and up only.  If you're looking for things to do with younger siblings while the older kids are on the mission, the museum has a small space themed exhibit.  Rates are $8 for adults and $6 for children (3 and younger are free.).  Also, the grounds are nice for a picnic with many tables available, and there is a playground less than a mile away and a library 6 minutes away which opens at 1 pm on Fridays.

Kind regards,
Stacy
