Placer Nature Center (Auburn) activities/classes

Happy New Year! We are looking forward to 2015. We have new programs and events scheduled to meet all your nature needs. Please check out our calendar of events and join us in the fun. Our programs offer hands on exploration of nature which makes them both fun and educational.   Is one of your goals for 2015 to give back to the community? If you love working with children and want to be a part of teaching them to be great stewards of Earth, our Docent Program is for you. We are currently looking for volunteers to go through the training program. Our first orientation beginsMonday, January 26, 2015 from 9:00am - 12:00pm. Training starts in February. Please visit our website for more details. Do you have a love for nature and want to be a part of the solution to its ability to sustain us for generations? We are also currently looking for Board Members. The Placer Nature Center Board meets the first Monday of every month from 5:30pm - 7:00pm. Did you know that Placer Nature Center offers a wide array of school programming options? We offer homeschool classes, field trips both on-site and off-site. We also offer classes and resources for teachers and caregivers to use in their every day curriculum. Does a rock have a life cycle? Students will explore the interrelationships of plants and animals in their life cycles by investigating various stages of animal development. Colfax astronomer Don Machholz, author and comet-hunter, will weave tales of the galaxies and explore the night sky with his telescopes. Canceled if you cannot see the stars. Program is good for children elementary school age and above. Bring your telescope to this class or watch how the many samples are used to get a magnified view of the night sky.
