Assemble Care Packages for the Troops

The homeschool community has been given another opportunity to assemble care packages for the troops in Afghanistan!  For those of you who have been on my distribution list for a while, you know that hundreds of homeschoolers have helped with this fun and meaningful project in the past, and we again have a chance to show our support for the men and women in the military by assembling hundreds of packages….. just in time for the holidays! Volunteer tasks include putting items in the box, taping boxes together, sealing filled boxes and replenishing items that have been used up.

Date:               Wednesday, November 20th
Time:               Two shifts available: 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.  and  12:00 – 3:00 p.m.  (please eat after/before your shift)
Location:         8795 Folsom Blvd., Suite 103    Sacramento, CA 95826
(Folsom and Watt off the 50 Freeway)

It is important to RSVP since MAF has moved their offices and there is now limited space for packers.  When you contact me to RSVP, please let me know which shift you prefer.  Children must be tall enough to stand at a table and pack supplies into boxes (no very young children please)  RSVP toheilyyoung@jps.net or 916-782-4411

A note from MAF:
If anyone wants to write a message for the troops we would be happy to include them in our CPs. Please leave them unsealed so we can see them before shipping. If you have a loved one on active duty in the military, or know of someone who does, let us know and we will make sure they receive a care package this holiday season. There is no cost.

If you want to write letters to the troops (a great service project for your kids!) or give MAF the name of an active duty service member, you can bring those on the day you pack, or you can give them to me and I will take them to the center for you on the 20th.

MAF is very grateful for your help!  Let’s show them how homeschoolers support the troops!
