Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - Roseville

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
at Roseville Theatre Arts Academy rosevilletheatreartsacademy.com

The biblical story of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes alive in the musical retelling. Joseph -- the favorite son of Jacob -- is blessed with vivid dreams that foretell the future. Sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, Joseph endures a series of adventures which challenge him to his core. Soon he finds himself belonging to Potiphar, whose wife makes advances toward Joseph and ultimately land him behind bars. However, news of Joseph’s ability to interpret dreams sparks the interest of the hilariously Elvis-like Pharaoh. Soon, Joseph is out of jail and well on his way to second-in-command. Eventually Joseph’s brothers find themselves unknowingly groveling at the feet of the brother they betrayed. As they fail to even recognize him, Joseph tests their integrity. He ultimately reveals himself and the brothers are reconciled. A truly timeless Old Testament tale, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is set to a multitude of musical genres, spanning from country-western and calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock and roll.

This show is part of RTAA’s Master Musical series in which young people ages 10-19 play all the roles.

Gail Efting Courses at Inspire Learning Academy

From Florence Gustafsson:

During the 2015-2016 school year, Gail Efting will be offering courses on Mondays at Inspire Learning Academy
(located at Calvary Chapel Auburn). I highly recommend you consider her
courses for your middle schooler/high schooler. These are not typical,
textbook-oriented courses.

Our family has been highly blessed since our children
began to take her courses 7+ years ago at a SF peninsula-based home school
academy. Mrs. Efting uses a very hands-on, student-centered approach to
instruction. Her immense knowledge of the sciences, history, government,
literature, mathematics, sociology, psychology and theology enrich each
course and give it a deeper context.

We hosted her BALM course in Loomis for two years because she is
SUCH a great communicator/instructor — and she made the bi-weekly
commute from Sunnyvale to our home. Her courses encourage students to think deeply,
to apply their Christian worldview to the issues at hand. I can not say
enough good about her style and her heart. Her love for the Lord and
joyful heart are clearly evident.

Reading the Inklings course will explore a few of the less well-known writings of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien - two of the most famous Inklings. The Inklings were a group of writers associated with Oxford University in the 1930's and 40's who would get together to encourage and critique each other's writing. We will explore how Lewis and Tolkien's love of language, mythology, and the medieval world influenced their writings. We will also sample writings from others associated with the Inklings group - writers who are associated with the Inklings - such as George McDonald and Dorothy Sayers.  9-12 -Reading the Inklings- Fletcher

Good Books  course can be customized to fit your child's needs. Does your child need an English course that will offer writing? Does your child need exposure to more good books, but would be overwhelmed if he had to write papers for one more class? Writing assignments will be customized for each student's needs. We are going to read some old and new good books that are relevant for our time and place in the world. We will explore the themes and how they relate to today's culture.
