Assisteens in Placer County

What is Assisteens?

Assisteens is the youth auxiliary of Assistance League chapters.  Assisteens Auxiliaries have been a part of Assistance League chapters since 1959. Currently, 44 Assisteens units provide volunteer service and leadership opportunities for students in grades 9 through 12.
Each Assistance League chapter is autonomous, tailoring its programs to its local communities. The associated Assisteens unit is unique as well, establishing programs and events to fit local needs and resources. A variety of service and leadership opportunities are available to members with opportunities to grow and find purpose.

Why should I join?

The Assisteens of Greater Placer inaugural class will begin in March 2018 and continue through the next school year, developing programs and activities for the future. This first class has a unique opportunity to shape the future direction of the group.

What is required to be a member of Assisteens?

  • Be a student in grades 9 – 12 in Placer County
  • Attend monthly meetings during the school year (dates TBD)
  • Participate in philanthropic and fundraising activities
  • Pay annual dues of $35 and purchase T-shirt (TBD)

Placer Dance Black and White Ball

FYI.  For more info on the Black and White Ball – click below or contact Pamela at PlacerDance@gmail.com

If you've been thinking about RSVPing for the Black & White Ball, NOW is the time!

The Carrot:
The Golden Ticket!!  Everyone who RSVPs (with payment) by 11:59 pm Wednesday, April 11th, will be entered into a drawing for ONE free admission!  The drawing will take place at the event, and the prize will come in the form of a refund to the payment method used.  Those who purchased a couple's ticket will receive a $45 refund.  The non-paying half of a couple's ticket will not be eligible for the drawing (i.e., the award goes to the one who paid).

Dancers who purchased their tickets previously will be included in the drawing.

The Stick:
Price bump to $55/person, $100/couple starting on Thursday, April 12th.  We are required to provide the venue with final orders and setup instructions, and any changes made after the deadline will result in an extra charge.

Finally, we have some courageous Ladies who have RSVP'd without a date.  It would be great if some of you unattached Gentlemen would come and dance with them!

Forward Bible Camp in Georgetown

(From Michelle Potter)
My kids have attended Forward Bible Camp for years and LOVE it. They don't want to go anywhere else. It is a smaller camp, is not focused on constant entertainment, quite affordable in comparison. It is run by a missionary family that lives on the premises. This has become my children's home-away-from-home.
Swimming, wall-climbing, 9-square, zip-line, Bible studies and worship, great food, snack shack, cabins, quiet time, outdoor games, night games, campfire devotions, make new friends and bring your own!
Also, if you have a teen, they may be interested in volunteering as a CREW member. Crew (and adults) can be cabin leaders/assistant cabinet leaders. Teens can also help with food prep, washing dishes, cleaning bathrooms, helping with various maintenance or janitorial duties, or with worship and teaching, games, etc. For only $25 to cover food, your teen can attend any camp (a few days) or all of them - all summer, learning new skills, making new friends, and still have a camp experience with their own Bible study and free times. My kids attend their own camp week, and serve at 2-3 others - and LOVE IT!
